hello [Jan. 15th, 2009|07:02 pm]
Fit and Furry!

[Current Mood |cheerfulcheerful]

A lj list for fit furs?! Finally! And now I have no idea what to write :)

I'm happy to help anyone with fitness related stuff as I do quite a bit; currently working on swimming so I can do a triathlon later this year (that's swimming, cycling and running in one race). Other than those three I do yoga and some climbing, which means mostly I do cardio work rather than sitting in a gym doing weights.

Stats-wise i'm 185cm/6ft tall and about 75kgs/165lbs but I tend to avoid scales as they can lead you into a bad way of thinking about getting fit. Concentrate on exercising and eating right rather than how much you weigh.

Anyway, TTFN!

My Goals [Jul. 30th, 2008|05:24 pm]
Fit and Furry!

[Current Mood |happymotivated]

Hi there

Sorry to not be at all active here. I haven't been that motivated to diet until now! I am going to start off by posting my current weight and goals and see how I go from there.

Current wieght: 12st 2lbs (170lbs)
Height: 5'9"

Apparently the ideal weight for my height is between 9st and 12st so I am at the very top end of that.

Goal wieght: 11st (154lbs)

A lot of people say that I do not look 12st and that I carry it well, and so because of that I do not want to go all the way down to 9st, as I think I'll look much too thin.

So I am looking to lose about 16lbs, but I would be happy to loose 9lbs at the very least, as this had been my weight for quite a while before I shot up to 12st (I blame pizza :P).

I will post my progress as I go ^_^

Fit and Furry!
 Hello all.

Some may know me, Some may not. But for everyone, Hello all the same.

I am 22 years old. I weight about 71kg. Have bit of a belly which is slowly going.
Have been going to the gym now in my area almost every night of the week which has :

- Half 'n' hour on Tredmil. Hill and Random mode for warm up.
- "The Fly" weight machine. 22kg - 40 reps. 30kg - 20 reps. 45kg - 5 reps.
- 20 Push up's
- 10 Chin ups (With 10kg weight belt)
- Bike machine for another half'n'hour.
- And lastly on the bar weights : 45kg - 10 reps.

I've had a head start in weights, due to outside manaul laybor for about 5 years.

As for diet. I've chnaged it alot shince I started at the gym. More veg and fruit, Willing to try new things (Such as having cucumber for lunch with grapes) I uset to just eat anything and everything that was put on my plate, along with alot of snacks, sitting around doing nothing on my ass. Also stopped drinking Beer, Did have one can or one bottle each night... But slowly thought that it wasnt just effecting my belly. So I've stopped with the beer and switched for more water (But at times, I cant cope with water so I tend to add some dilate-juice)

Pills wise, Nothing other than Cod-liver oil. Cant really be bothered with all these Vitamins and other stuff.

That was bit of a long winded hello to all! Do'h!

An introduction [Jan. 19th, 2008|03:03 am]
Fit and Furry!
Hey all!

I suppose this is where I'm supposed to give you some info on my fitness and my goals:
I'm currently 5'10" and 150lbs. I'm an avid outdoorsfur (I do a lot of hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and the like), I do MMA, and I run cross-country competitively.

My goal is to put on a significant amount of muscle so that I will be more competitive in MMA. At this point, my endurance means nothing in fights. I have no idea where to start, though! I've ignored weight training in the past for endurance work -- any suggestions??

Animal Strength stuff [Nov. 12th, 2007|08:25 pm]
Fit and Furry!

So, I'm kinda small. Not ridiculously small, but 5'5" and lean. At animal strength, which is a class that works out the whole body, I was shouldering the 24-kilo kettlebell. "My God!" someone exclaimed "Do we HAVE to use that one." "No" I said. Gesturing to the 16-kilo kettlebell "You can use the one the boys were using." Well, the boys were using the lighter one. Gotta say though, its good to feel strong.

Leaping (Lazy) Lemurs! [Nov. 12th, 2007|11:38 pm]
Fit and Furry!

Hey y'all! Pickle here!

I've recently been feeling a little down about my lack of fitness and it caused me to remember this community, so here I am!

I have a bit of a weird figure, it has to be said. I'm pretty slim everywhere except around my middle where I have these large rolls of puppy fat! It's not helped by the fact that I have a very short torso, so it sticks out alot when I sit down, and it seriously impairs my confidence.

The most frustrating thing is I know how easy it is for me to tone up. I can get get rid of it very easily, but I spend most of my time sitting at a desk drawing, so it all comes back very quickly because I don't get regular exercise. And this isn't due to laziness at all - I love to be active; I love swimming and running and playing games and frolicking around in fursuits! The problem is I can rarely find people do actually do this stuff with me, and I'm not confident enough to go it alone.

So yeah, to cut a long story short, I'm wanting to tone up my stomach muscles, as well as generally getting more exercise. I don't care if it's something as simple as running around like a headless chicken in a field somewhere - I just want some friends to do it with. X3

Did I mention that fursuiting is a great form of exercise? Come on people, get motivated! I want fursuit walks now! *stamps foot* =P

Diets [Nov. 9th, 2007|09:08 am]
Fit and Furry!

[Current Mood |calmcalm]

I see a lot of posts about exercise but since diet is equally as important I figured I'd ask. I was just wondering what people have structured for themselves, if at all, and how you go about maintaining it.

Personally, I'm in kind of a weird situation with this at the moment since I'm staying in a hotel that includes breakfast and dinner. I can't really keep track of calories because of this, but here's what I've set-up:

Breakfast: I don't eat any of the bad stuff like eggs, sausage, cheese, etc. I'll usually just have a bowl of oatmeal and milk since this is usually all they have that is healthy >.< 2 packages + milk is probably 500-600 calories and I usually have some fruit with it

Lunch: I'll just buy one of those frozen Stouffer's things from Walgreens across the street. About 350 calories.

I then walk and work-out, then eat whatever they make for dinner. Usually a meat, carb and vegetable. Pretty balanced. Also have a soup or salad (though I'm probably going to cut out the dressing and use vinegar or something that's not all fat).

Also, something I've noticed when people diet is they won't eat the foods they want and then when they splurge they figure they've ruined it and give up. This is not the case -- I will splurge once a week or so and for dinner eat whatever I want. It's not about giving these things up -- it's about doing them in moderation ;)

Anyone else?

Hey! New to this community... [Nov. 7th, 2007|08:12 am]
Fit and Furry!

Hey there!

Name's Rick. I'm originally from Tampa but just moved to San Francisco a few months ago after a bad car wreck (but I'm ok, now). Now that I'm healed and stuff I'm working out, again.

A little about me, I'm a bobcat who's been in the furry scene for a pretty long time, now. I'm about 5'7 / 150 lbs. and looking to put on about about 10 - 15, while watching the diet because I don't want to just start eating more and get fat ;) I'm an ex-Marine and in semi-decent shape but I'm also the type of person who thinks there's always room for improvement.
