Fit and Furry!

Hey all!

I suppose this is where I'm supposed to give you some info on my fitness and my goals:
I'm currently 5'10" and 150lbs. I'm an avid outdoorsfur (I do a lot of hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and the like), I do MMA, and I run cross-country competitively.

My goal is to put on a significant amount of muscle so that I will be more competitive in MMA. At this point, my endurance means nothing in fights. I have no idea where to start, though! I've ignored weight training in the past for endurance work -- any suggestions??

Fine, I'll field this. Start with your large muscle groups. That's where you'll make the most gains. So: squats - keep weight in your heals, leg presses. For upper body chest: bench press. Back: rows. Obviously you can and should do more than just that, but the big muscle groups will help spur the smaller muscle groups, kinda like building a foundation. Don't do anything else except legs on leg day, you'll need the the blood in your lower body to help recovery. - and if you are lifting in the afternoon after swimming in the morning - that's fine, but don't exhaust yourself by doing aerobics right before a heavy workout. Warm-up, but don't deplete. Eat several times a day, but don't lift right after.
